On a severe weather warning night of flooding for my journey, the sun came out in Crickhowell, as we were taken to a tropical Treasure Island pantomime.
We must all commend this team for rehearsing and organising a pantomime for Crickhowell & District Players at the busiest time of the year and when its dark nights and very bad weather are continual. Yet they bring sunshine, colour and laughter to the lovely famous town of Crickhowell . A tropical theme warmed us all as the fabulous cast brought us this fun production of high standards. The Clarence Hall was a perfect venue in the centre of Crickhowell.
Musically in the safe hands of MD Jonathon Llewellyn Bowdon also a brilliant musician his fabulous trumpet keeping the beat adding to the quality of the performances. His musicians were all excellent.
Opening with a sparkling Fairy~Godmother Beth Mason whose fantastic voice reached the heights of the Clarence Hall, so well played with great expression and clear diction.
An outstanding performance of Long John Silver from Rhys Goodwin made the baddy so bad he was brilliant with his imposing entrances and exits, a strong quality performance from Rhys.
There were many very good performances all well cast Jim Hawkins, Kristina Wheaton,, Squire Trelawny Andy Stubbs a fantastic Polly the Parrot from Katy Saunders Captain Corker’un Cara Perkins, and a feisty Beard Seller from Evelyn Beatty. The scene with all the ladies chorus with beards was absolutely hilarious!!! All the supporting roles were very well played.
Special Skeleton Dancers led by Anwen Williams with swift precision moves were very effective. and fantastic. All the dancers in the chorus numbers energised the numbers.
Outstanding costumes for this pantomime by Denise Thomas and Linda Powell.
Everyone on stage can give themselves a round of applause for providing this wonderful evening of the happiest pantomime, we all went home with that amazing happy feeling having seen this production.
Congratulations Directors Cara Perkins and Kristina Wheaton and Crickhowell & District Players and everyone involved.
See you next year, thank you for a lovely welcome from Rosemary Williams.
