This panto had everything you wanted, a goodie to cheer and a baddie to boo and a wonderful outrageous dame. And how this sell out audience really enjoyed it.
Jim Hawkins has a treasure map which when he follows it takes him to Skeleton Isalnd, but also on his trail is a wicked pirate, Long John Silver. Assisted by Silly Billy Bones, Captain Molly Smollet and the local Squire, will our hero get the treasure and the girl?
Playing Jim was George France who together with Alex Fraser as Silly Billy Bones really worked the audience well. They worked well together and you could tell they were enjoying the role. Playing Captain Molly Smollett was Chris Cooper. A great all rounder who knows what pantomime is all about. Jim’s love interest Sally was played by Lyndia Sanders, nice stage presence. Silly Billy was played by Alex Fraser, who really knew how to get the audience going. The fairy in this production was not a fairy but a Mermaid, Marina, played by Helen Gibbs, wonderful performance, and when she sang in the night club with the two other mermaids was enchanting. One person I cannot miss is Steve Hayes as baddie Long John Silver. How the audience booed him. Fantastic costume and make up. Steve was made for this role. The remainder of the principals and ensemble worked so well together, wish I had room to mention each one of you.
The company were supported by the Rochelle Dance Academy whose dance numbers really enhanced the production.
The costumes looked great and the scenery was ideal for the size of the venue,
Chris, you must be so pleased with the outcome as were your audience.
Congratulations to you and thank you for the invite. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Paul Douglass – Regional Representative district 9.
Do I as Regional Councillor look forward to a visit to SSA Drama – oh yes, I do. Not only did I join Paul as the Regional Representative for the district but also by Kay Rowan as the National President.
It is pleasing to be able to show our National President of the talent we have across the West Midlands, and this production of Tresure Island ticked the box.
The characterisations were good and believable throughout the show as well done all. Chris as writer and director must be congratulated. However, on top of this was the role of dame which was superb.
I for one most certainly look forward to panto 2027 – Red Riding Hood.
