'WHAT A BLAST’ No other words to describe RaTs pantomime this year 'Treasure Island'…  We all needed a good belly laugh coming out of a pandemic, and RaTs certainly did that!!!
Although a few of the cast were off because of sickness, this didn't deter from enjoying the action, in fact I think it made it more comical.

Claire Feekings you should be very proud of your cast for giving us a well directed pantomime.  Kathy West for well thought through scenery, not an easy one, set on a treasure Island but you succeeded.  Props and costumes were stupendous, even down to the buckles on the gents shoes (yes I always look at shoes first) right shoes, right character and nearly all of you got there!!
With 28 of you in the cast how can I mention all of you - you all derserve praise..  Top of the list must go to Dean Caston as Dame Mrs Hawkins,  Dean refereed to his script a few times, even though the other actors were not following the script, this I felt was awesome, only a talent like Dean could do this and carry it off perfectly, also the young lady that played Jenny Trelawney  she was near perfect on her script, well done apologies for not knowing her name.

Long John Sliver, the incomparable Alan Godman and his pirates made us tremble with fear on their entrances.  Polly the parrot and Kerry Bailey kept up her comedy as did many of the supporting roles - played by a cast of 28.. I liked all the WI women lead by Jo Godman ,Kathy West and Helen Gaston, Helen’s Mrs Snook's knitting got longer every scene, also seen wearing it as a scarf in the finale, oh yes I see these small touches - excellent Helen. The supporting cast in this Treasure Island made this pantomime a superb evening of fun and certainly made me drive home  giggling to myself.  Well done to all of you - a perfect Blast of Panto at  the Oast Theatre..once again !!!
