I had a lovely evening viewing Totally Talented (the final of 3 nights). Thank you for the warm welcome at Bourne Corn Exchange by the front of house team. Ian, Stuart, Keith, and all staff at BCE, plus Alison, Libby, Matt, Holly, Sarah, Kimberley, Mandy and Lewis, Sharon, Stuart who had a busy night as they adjudicated the competition, collected vote slips, and made the count, well done.
The competition was very tight, and I could have voted for every act, what an amazing effort from the community in Bourne. Jo, was behind the creative vision instrumental in bringing this talent contest to the stage, and for the choreography and direction of all the SKAMP musical medleys. I loved these interludes, which kept the stage full between the acts and entertained the audience whilst counting was happening. A Musical, When I Grow Up (Matilda), Mary Poppins Medley, Do You Hear the People Sing? (Les Misérables) and an Abba Medley. Fabulous. Lots of practice and a good eye for costumes and props, meant these interludes were excellent.
Well done to the fantastic backstage team (Lydia, Stuart, David), and Ian (Harry) for creating props, Jason for the inspired poster, banner and program design plus the tremendous work in producing your daily/weekly publicity blogs, feeds, and promotional activity, everything came together, and I could tell you have a very dedicated and motivated team.
Special thanks to the chaperones (Dani, Sadja, Lindsey) for keeping everything and everyone organised and controlled behind the scenes and for ensuring a smooth transition between the acts, whilst making sure all cast got on stage in the correct costume and on time! Without them there would have been no show at all.
The staging was simple but very effective with a star cloth at the back, front tabs, and two amazing hosts. The lighting and sound by Paul, were effective and very professional, how you managed all the SFX/LFX mixing decks, radio mics etc was amazing.
Well Done to all the winners and runners-up for each category. It was lovely to see the Mayor present the prizes at the end of the evening to well-deserved groups and acts. Choosing from dance, vocalists, musicians, and comedians was so hard as every act deserved their place in the final.
I commend you very highly for this production, something that other groups could learn from. I know you had to postpone from last year, but I’m so glad you had huge audiences attend despite the dark rainy January evening. I wish you all well in your rehearsals for Hi-De-Hi and look forward to seeing you again in March.
