Murder Mystery by Charles Raymond Dyer. Director Denise Cleaver made the most of this wordy murder mystery helped by a fairly strong cast. The landlord Dugdale (Peter Jewell) played his part well with his witty retorts, along with his wife Mrs Dugdale (Kay Padwick) suitably nagging him. Irma (Sara Govey) had eyes on Police Constable George (Keith Olding) without much luck. Grannie (Anne Tull) was hilarious with her one liners. Sadie (Pen Bicheno) the bar maid engaged to PC George was amusing with her outrageous clothes and hat. Freddie (Terry Gardiner) kept the play moving and the plot more complicated with his antics. Pat (Trisha Haley) played her part well as did Mike (Jos Johnston) gave a good performance, struggling with his memory loss to try and solve the mystery of the murdered women. Mr Brooks (Peter Samuel) gave a good cameo performance at the end when he was interrogated. Although Freddie was arrested and charged the clarification of the murder plot or the reason was not very clear. Stage Manager Graham Lonsdale assisted by members and helpers with construction. Set Designer Brian Godman’s split set bar and lounge was simple but very effective. Lighting and sound Chris Govey, Rowan Lonsdale and Ben Tilly.
