~~The evening’s performance consisted of three one act lays offered under the collective title, Despatched, Hatched, Matched.  Each play could have been presented as a standalone performance, however, each had been carefully selected to give a nicely balanced evening’s entertainment and also gave more inclusive opportunities to this well-established company.
Heavens Above set in what I would describe as heavens waiting room where Sally (Terri Barnes) arrives in amazed disbelief determines that what has happened to her is a mistake.  Whereupon she proceeds to roust up opposition from Melvin (Martyn Peck) and Bernice (Shelley Scripps) to the much harassed Lamassa (Keri Gibson).  It’s a will they won’t they scenario!
The Canary Cage (the second offering) was a play of suspense.  Three characters get locked in a cellar by accident (or is it?) as the action evolved things take a more sinister turn.  Vicki Roberts (Mary) Sebastian Goss (Dan) and Claire Guest (Jean) made the most of their roles, sustaining the suspense to the end.
Finally ‘Wife Required’ sees Henry (Ross Green) advertising for a wife, quite overlooking his tearful secretary Alice Gott (Rosie Orton).  The three applicants managed to present three well differentiated characters Terri Barnes (Barney Dare) Vicki Ruberts (The Girl) and Shelley Scripps (Avalon Pippin).  Each making an interesting contribution to the action.
Each play had its own particular twist at the end.  It is quite an undertaking to put on three different plays bit I fell Under the Tower rose to the occasion, keeping the audience entertains throughout the performance.  The first play started a little slowly and the one or two prompts need slowed the tempo – but it was the first performance.  The actors were all well into their stride by the end.
Well don’t to all on your performance and a special well don’t, to all the backstage who worked so tirelessly to keep the show on the road.
Thank you for a lovely evening and also for the hospitality given to my friend and I.
