A very strong cast provided an excellent performance of this popular show. Set in the roaring twenties in New York City, Millie Dilmount (Chloe Turner) was superb in the leading role which was made for her all round capability. It may be a small village Society but there is a depth of talent which is enviable and was on display here. There is enough substance in the plot to give almost all on stage a named part and there was no shortfall in any performer. Jimmy Smith (Peter Holmes) and Trevor Graydon (Ollie Edwards) were new to me but both have fine singing voices and stage presence. No doubt more will be seen of them in future productions. Having seen the show umpteen times over the last twenty years it always puzzles me as to why Chinese is brought into the libretto, one would think that the roles could have been played as Americans. CHING HO (Lewis Doley) and BUN FU (Jenny Bradbury) deserve special mention for learning and speaking some Chinese. Very well done. The whole show was a delight. The orchestra under the baton of James Bradbury produced just the right sound for the roaring twenties. Off stage crew, lighting and sound enhanced the production.
