~~Congratulations must go first to the production team for the quality of the finished article on stage. The choreography was amazing and well executed by both chorus and principles. The staging was imaginative and fast paced and the singing was excellent backed up by a first class orchestra. The costumes were stunning with great attention to detail.
Abbie Rai (Millie) showed what an accomplished performer she is as she danced, acted and sang throughout with ease. It was also good to see someone use her facial expressions to convey her feelings. She was well matched by Will Phipps (Jimmy) who also showed what a rounded performer he is. I don’t know where Daniel Haddon has been hiding, but I am sure Willenhall MTC is delighted to have him, as he was ideal in the part of Trevor Graydon. Jenna Guest (Miss Dorothy) has an amazing voice which she used to good effect in this role. Much of the humour centres on Mrs Meers (Kelly Ashman), Ching Ho (Matt Wirtz) and Bun Foo (Matt Cullis) and they certainly didn’t miss a trick in their bungled attempts to kidnap Miss Dorothy. We were kept up to speed in Mandarin by clever projection of the translation. There were also solid performances from Lucy-Ellen Parker (Muzzy Van Hossmere) and Jenny Rullan (Miss Flannery). Sam King, Lydia Lavill, Felicity North, Kim Smith, Grace Bradshaw, Beth North and Lindsey Grant were delightful as Millie’s friends.
Well done on a tremendous team effort!
