The Wizard of Oz

~~I was expecting a good night out with quality entertainment from this company and I was not disappointed.

Under the direction of Deb Middleton (her debut as a director, but you would have never known) we were led down the yellow brick road to the land of Oz.

Leading from the front was Rene Blissett as Dorothy.  Lovely voice and stage presence.  I loved Tetley who played the wonderful Toto.  So well behaved. 

Scarecrow (Ben Adams), Tin Man (Tony Orbell) and Lion (Mark Hull) where superbly cast.  They all worked well together. 

For me the most outstanding character was Christina Peak as Almira Glitch & Wicked Witch of the West.  Fantastic make up.  How the audience booed her. 

I loved the munchkin scenes and the costumes were fantastic.  You could tell from the high production standards that the production team worked well together.  I also enjoyed the flying sequences that the company added.  Helen Simon and Sarah Clarke you have more nerve than me. 

It was just such a shame that the tornado carrying Dorothy away did not work on the evening I attended.  Fortunately we saw the return journey but not the outbound.
