What a colouful sight met our eyes when the curtains went up for the opening number. The costumes throughout the show were eyecatching and added greatly to the overall effect. The scenery was excellent with slick changes and effects. There was a delightful chorus of Munchkins and Emeralders who had very good reactions and facial expressions. The dancing was simple but effective and included everyone in the chorus. Dorothy (Leoni Parker) coped very well with the large role and she sang beautifully. She was well supported by a strong cast and she certainly won the hearts of the youngsters in the audience. The Wizard of Oz is not an easy story to put on as a pantomime as there are non of the traditional panto characters. They did manage to bring in opportunities for a good shout - vital for young children. A lively and colourful show with some familiar songs we all went home singing.
