Idle and Thackley’s theatre Group’s The Wizard of Oz pantomime had a mixture of vibrant, family-friendly fun with great sets and catchy songs, the pace was good, jokes for both adults and younger members of the audience, and an excellent chemistry amongst the cast. The show was written by Sara Temple writing the usual panto style integrated into the well-known classic story – well done.

The production team consisting of Direction – Sara Temple, Katie and Emma Burton and Choreography - Katie and Emma Burton.

Standout performances, especially from the Dame played by Jordan Anderson and the Witch played by Katie Bunton, keeping audiences (especially kids) engaged with traditional panto elements like booing, cheering, and slapstick. The show was full of family panto fun and moments of the usual panto audience participation.

Glinda, played by Alyson Boote guided the audience through the show with her faulty wand – hilarious! Dorothy was played by Tili-Etta Fawcett who had a fantastic singing voice and led the Scarecrow, played by Sara Temple, Tin Man, played by Anne Bateson and the Lion, played by Nick Anderton all of whom played great individual characters along the yellow brick road. Other characters Bungle played by Sophie Clark, Gary played by Connie Gates, Aunt Em/Emmy played by Sue Davey and Uncle Henry, played by Aimee Keenan also added great comic humour and timing to the show.

The production was full of colourful costume, excellent sets on such a small all stage, well done to Katie Burton and Bob Cochrane, and familiar tuneful songs.

Well done to all on and off stage in bringing together such a wonderful show that was clearly enjoyed by all the community.
