This classic show was staged superbly by CLOC.  Costumes looked good and the use of back projection looked fantastic, well thought out and executed.  This R.S.C. version of the show was upbeat and had a great fell good factor to it.  With a sound lighting plot, this was the ideal family show.

Leading the company was Samantha Rogers as Dorothy.  Samantha gave a sterling and solid performance and her rendition of ‘Over the Rainbow’ was so haunting, I will remember this for some time to come.  John Biddell was brilliant in his role of the Cowardly Lion.  He must have been very hot in the costume.  This was his second time in this role as he played it in a previous CLOC production.  A very strong performance.  Similarly strong performances came from Erin Mooney as Scarecrow and Kian Haden as Tinman.  Great singing and acting.  I don’t know what to say about Stacey Muxlow’s performance asAlmira Gulch / Wicked Witch of the West.  Brilliant but I don’t know how she got the green makeup off after each performance.

Great support came from Calum Reynolds as Uncle Henry / Guard and Eloise Tanley as Aunt Em / Glinda.  Calum’s walk as a guard gave the audience a good laugh.  Strong support to the main principals also came from Kevin Astbury-Pemberton as Professor Marvel / Wizard of Oz and how could I forget Teddy as Toto, so well behaved.

Cloc is a very family orientated society and it was good to see so many family units in the production.  The chorus worked well together and it was a pleasure to see so many young people in the show.

All in all this was a great production.

The orchestra, under the direction of John Jones sounded good and did not over power the actors on stage.

Teresa Biddell should be proud of this production.

Congratulations to you all.
