This brilliant show gave us a real treat following the characters along the yellow brick road. From start to finish a triumph, with excellent casting, and very strong performances.

On entering the theatre, we followed the yellow brick road into the theatre and right to our seats.  The cast made good use of this extra space when they were off to see the Wizard.

Central to this production was Dorothy. Phebe Jackson as Dorothy showed her excellent stagecraft and interaction with all the cast on stage, superb voice and presence. Superb characterisations of the characters with Dorothy, were Scarecrow Robbie Newton, Tin Man Paul Atkins, and Dexter Whitehead The Lion. Of course, Pip the dog as Toto stole the show even lying down quietly while Dorothy sang. They all made a lively quintet as they danced along the yellow brick road together, the audience loving every minute joining in with the singing. I am sure no one will ever tire of this show as it is timeless!  Ethereal scenes were created with the energised Munchkins who raised the roof with their singing and gave us fabulous dancing. A delightful Glinda (Sarah Riches), Aunt Em, (Alison Odell) and Pete Dent as Uncle Henry who always gives a reliable performance.

Opening in Kansas, with a realistic scene including a dramatic twister and totally natural performances from all in this scene. A powerful Miss Gulch, Liz Plumpton, who as the Witch of the West literally cycled onto the stage and gave a great performance. The Wizard of Oz, Paul Wescott came over well.Creative choreography throughout and thoroughly well-directed by Emily and Dexter backed most effective technical effects which added greatly to the story. I loved the use of projection. The interesting set and the costumes were also very effective.

The two directors, M. D. Gladstone Wilson, and all the team can be proud of this production, a joy to watch from beginning to end.
