How nice to go into a full theatre, with the buzz of an excited audience!  Their expectations were well met with this bright, pacy production, nicely balanced in its innuendo and humour, with glamour from the three witches, Alexandra, Jane and Sukie (Adele simpson, Lisa Dutch and Lorna McAtasney), all different in temperament but with the same eventual desire to rid the small town of its would-be Principal Person Felicia (Caroline Telfer) and the devilish incomer Darryl (Kevin McGuire) who creates havoc, romantically and otherwise.   Felicia’s hen-pecked husband Clyde (Jonathan Proctor) provided some light relief, and Alexandra’s son Michael (Jack Borrill) some angst-ridden teenage romance with Clyde and Felicia’s daughter Jennifer (Suzanne Wilson).  The chorus helped to move the show along with well-rehearsed moves, and the various techy gadgets like exploding tennis balls and cello bows all seemed to work well.  Kevin managed to appear both nice and nasty at the same time, and Lorna’s tonguetwisting ‘Words, Words, Words’ would have seemed quite at home as a G&S ‘patter’song.  As stated above, the innuendo and doubles-entendre caused the odd guffaw, and there were obvious moments when the audience members could relate with personal experience to some of the scenarios.  All in all, a great show, somewhat marred by poor volume control (if any) meaning words were hidden, or mangled by over-amplification of orchestra or voices, which was a shame, but the cast overcame most with its excellent portrayals.
