I have been asked to write this report following the illness of Jim Farr our Regional Councillor. I must apologise for any omissions and for this report being rather brief as it has been quite some time since the show took place and I made no notes at the time.
“Three beautiful women, old lucky devil” was the tag-line of the 1987 film, and the hit musical opened in the West End in 2000 and ran for 15 months. IODS gave us a very professional production of this musical comedy under the guidance of James Hayward . He certainly captured all the sensuality and comedy in his characters. The three witches played by Lesley Rawlinson, Amanda Langley and Sian Naylor certainly conjure up all the magic as they are seduced by the charismatic Darryl van Horne played by Jonathon Mudd. Sam Horsfield captured the comedy in her part as Felicia Gabriel.
Mike Wren and did a brilliant job and the singing was to their normal high standard. This was Mark Connell’s first time choreographing for IODS and he did a great job. The whole cast certainly looked to be enjoying themselves.
It was good to see that the Company’s technical team had their witches flying, which many Societies are unable to achieve. So well done to them. It was an effective set by Scenic Projects and Pam and her team did a grand job on all the costumes.
A very enjoyable production.
