Masqueraders Theatrical Society produced a classic tale updated version of The Wind in the Willows.
The Adventures of the riverbank begin in Spring and you are soon introduced to a variety of animals.
The principal cast consists of Alex Lewis as Ratty, Jordan Bloomer as Mole and Sam Ashby as Toad, this trio were an absolute delight to watch. Their characterization, musical ability and stage presence were of an extremely high standard.
Andy Ward as Badger and Jenny Chapell as Jailers Daughters are no strangers to the stage and as always give a excellent performance, and this was no exception.
Naomi O’Bourne as Mrs Otter was a delightful addition to the cast and captured the essence of Mrs. Otter wonderfully and has a fantastic singing ability.
The principal cast is rounded out by Chad Fletcher as Chief Weasel and Colin Udall as the Lesser Weasel, who work well together on stage and play their parts with ease.
Between seen changes the supporting cast perform the smaller musical numbers which are all worthwhile and showcase the talent of the cast.
The set and lighting added to the overall enjoyment and a big congratulations to the set/prop builders as they rose to the challenge making two cars and some boats!! The costumes were fantastic especially the Hedgehog! There were some wonderful musical numbers from the principal cast and the supporting cast. Some musicals come with their own challenges and added to this Masqueraders had the challenge of rehearsing in COVID times with COVID restrictions, however Masqueraders managed to produce a delightful evening’s entertainment.
