The 53 children, ranging from 7-16 years old, taking part in this musical version of the well known tale gave extremely entertaining performances which were well received by the full house Sunday matinee audience. Miriam Aspden (Mole), Abbey Neison (Rat) and Roisin Morton (Badger) gave very strong performances and certainly had their hands full trying to keep Jamie Hoper’s Mr Toad out of trouble. Jamie’s performance was wonderfully over the top but suited the character perfectly. Strong support was given by Kirsten Reid (Jake the weasel leader of the nasty Wild Wooders) and Gregor Phimister (Jasper his rather slow in the uptake lieutenant). With colourful scenery and costumes – even the band and production team dressed up as animals - it all added up to a delightful afternoon’s entertainment. The principals were all double cast and I am sure the audience’s at the other shows all enjoyed the same standard of performance. Well done all at Haddo Children’s Theatre your hard work certainly shone through.
