This was a Maltby Minors production.
The Wedding Singer is not a well known piece, I remember a film of the same name a few years ago but I don’t think there was any music in that one.
The main part of the story revolves around the character, Robbie Hart, who is a wedding singer, this was played extremely well by Adam Wigglesworth, he sang all the songs with conviction after a shaky start but this was a fault of the sound system and not of Adam’s. I have seen Adam several times now and I have to say he gets better each time I see him, well done Adam keep it up.
The other line up in the principals was really good and had developed some really great characters, I particularly enjoyed the performances from Daniel Gregory as a very camp George, and there was certainly no doubt in anyone’s mind as to how he was playing it. His partner in the band Sammy was played by Liam Robinson, again a very convincing performance.
One character who for me really stood out was that of Rosie played by Rhiannon Marshall, although playing someone much older than her years she was able to give a really great performance, I particularly enjoyed the song “Never too Late” which she sang with Sammy, it was hilarious and enjoyed by everyone.
The other main characters which were played with style were, Courtney Morris as Holly, Megan Edgar as Julia and Martin Farthing as Glen Guglia, all gave outstanding performances to help produce a really enjoyable show together with an excellent chorus.
Well done to all involved in the production.
