The Wedding Singer is the Iconic Adam Sandler movie that is now a fast-paced musical

Annabel Clarke did a good job of making sure her vision came across while making sure the pace was not affected.Tom Nicol and his band were fantastic and balanced well with the actors.

Joshua Clarke (Robbie) and Ylana Schafer-Thomson (Julia) were a fantastic leading pair.  They both commanded the stage when they were on, and their singing was great.  Ylana was a stunning leading lady, both vocally and performance wise.  The show revolves around Robbie and is an iconic role, well done Joshua.

Glen portrayed by Lewis Clarke reminded me of Michael Douglas in Wall Street, slimy American financier.  Lewis got this across well showing that Glen is the polar opposite of Robbie.

Sammie and George were played by Jordan and Noah Clarke.  They were part of the band but more than that they gave great comedy performances, their characterisations were super, I particularly like George’s Boy George characterisation very funny, their comic timing was great.

Chloe Weingarten played Holly, great voice and presence on stage, and the water set piece at the end was a stunning way to end act one.

Linda’s two rock numbers were performed with energy by Katie Milward, vocally powerful and her performance was big and bold as it needed to be.  Carly Cousins was Grandma Rosie and she played the role well making sure the comic moments were there as well as showing her bond with Robbie.

The rest of the cast played various roles and were involved in the ensemble numbers.  Wow what choreography, congratulations Chelsea Clarke the choreography was fast and well-rehearsed and on point.  It was challenging and right for the show!

Sound is something that is not always mentioned, but I think it is important to mention, as Will Leete did a really good job, 12-piece band, 20 microphones, that is not easy to balance and he did it well, no feedback at all and everyone could be heard.

The lighting by Sam Murphy was great, the subtle little things do make a difference for example the green lights and when it was used in ‘All About the Green’.

It is very important to mention that this society do not hire set, and the amount that was made and created, including the already mentioned water set piece is outstanding.  So much thought is put into the set, all the little details, it is also obvious how well rehearsed the crew are, this makes such a difference to the pace of the show.

Costumes were great and were right for all characters.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the effort that has been put into it from all areas, I look forward to coming back at Christmas, thank you to Will for his time throughout the night.
