This production had energy and attack throughout, delivered in the era of the 1980s and from the opening number, ‘It’s your Wedding Day’, the scene was set. This romantic comedy had many twists and as we have come to expect, boy meets girl and everyone ends up with the correct partner.   As the casualty of love Wedding Singer and leader of the band, Alistair Morton brought his great natural versatility to the role in providing an outstanding performance as Robbie Hart in this demanding role.  Megan Daly ably played his wayward fiancée Linda who dumped him at the altar wanting to be the wife of a rock star not a wedding singer.  Robbie’s band mates Sammy and flamboyant George, were brilliantly played by Bryan Jamieson and Andrew Jamieson who both complemented each other with comedy at every opportunity.  As the empathetic and caring Julia engaged to Glenn waiting patiently for him to set a wedding date, Claire Foster gave a beautiful and charming performance against Jamie McCraw’s womanising, cheating businessman and bond investor, Glenn Gulia.  Vikki McIntyre brought Robbie’s Grandma Rosie to life in what was a highly entertaining performance.  Playing Julia’s cousin Holly who was always up for a good time, Nicole Duthie’s characterisation was perfect as was Janet Whyte’s who played her divorced mother.  This production had a strong line up of principals equally complimented by the entire ensemble.  Musical numbers were strong and delivered with great energy coupled with the choreography.  The set was an original, specially designed by Susan Andrews which included subtle back projections.  Scene changes were also executed with great ease ensuring the show kept moving forward.  Well done to all involved.
