This delightful stage adaptation of The Vicar of Dibley gave the drama group a wonderful opportunity to bring the beloved humour of the classic TV sitcom to life, an opportunity the company embraced with charm and skill, prompting plenty of laughter and warmth from the audience. Adapting such a well-loved show for the stage can be challenging, especially when it comes to recreating its iconic characters. However, the company succeeded admirably, with the entire cast maintaining strong characterisation and excellent comedic timing throughout.  At the heart of the production was Suzanne Love, delivering an outstanding and flawless performance as Geraldine Granger, the Vicar of St Barnabus Church in the Parish of Dibley. Her portrayal anchored the show with confidence and charisma.  Eddie Gouther brought depth to his performance as the blunt yet endearing head of the parish council and community pillar, David Horton. Peter Paterson was convincing as his son Hugo, bringing a gentle sincerity to the role, while Cat Gemmell effectively embodied the sensitive and easily flustered Alice Tinker. Bill McCloy was ideal as Frank Pickle, the boring yet pedantic parish clerk with a dry sense of humour, and Mark Andrews captured the earthy wit and awkward charm as farmer Owen Newitt. John Bergin brought lovable chaos to the stage as the dithering, stuttering Jim Trott, while May McKendrick delivered a delightful performance as the caring and quirky Letitia Cropley. The set was thoughtfully designed, with clever use of lighting enhancing scene transitions. The whole cast was well-rehearsed, and the performance maintained a lively pace that kept the audience thoroughly engaged from start to finish. Following on from the success of It’s A Wonderful Life’, the company can be justifiably proud of this latest production. Congratulations to all involved!
