This stage play is by Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter and has been adapted from the original TV series by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer. Peter Ansell has got a brilliant cast for this play. Everyone has worked hard on looking and sounding like the original TV cast. The whole audience laughed out loud through the entire show.

The set is very good being the main Parish Hall, with the Vicarage on one side and the Vestry on the other. There are 22 different scenes telling the story moving from one set to the other.

Lucie Evans is great as Geraldine Grainger the first female vicar of the parish; she brings a lot to the performance and has some great lines. I liked the different jumpers and not eating the chocolate was funny. I also liked the jokes with Alice in the vestry. Lucie was very believable in the role.

Everyone in the cast had great characterisations and they all need the same praise as there wasn’t a weak link, Nigel Bonynge plays David Horton, Peter Beardsworth is Jim Trott, John West plays Frank Pickle, Richard Bennett is Owen Newitt and Rosemary Guy plays Letitia Cropley.

Joanna Dey plays Alice Tinker and there are great moments between her and Nathan East playing Hugo Horton. Very funny. I liked the wedding scene this also enabled other society members to join the cast as wedding guests, including Tinky Winky and Po as bridesmaids, the prompt even joined in.

Thank you for a great evening’s entertainment.
