A story about three high profile names bidding to host the 2018 world cup, David Cameron, David Beckham and Prince William go to Zurich to deliver speeches to try and secure enough votes to see them get over the line. However, controversy followed and despite the star-studded campaign England only managed to get 2 votes out of 22 and lost their bid to Russia.
David Freshwater playing David Cameron gave a solid and convincing performance of the Prime Minister, trying to keep everybody’s focus on delivering their speeches and making sure everyone was prepared.
Jill Connon playing David Cameron’s P.A. Penny, made sure she was always around dealing with any problems the Prime Minister had. Jill delivered her lines so well and acted so prim and proper, it was nice to see her being a bit star struck with Prince William and David Beckham but who would have thought she would meet Lachlan played by Benny Amato, although a small part he added so much to the story. Although this is only Benny’s second play you can see him growing in confidence and I am sure there will be more to come from him in the future.
Dale Howcroft playing two parts Johannes and Hendrik two brothers who works in the hotel had a strong accent all the way through the play, sometimes not always easy but Dale seemed to coast through his role and played the part ever so well.
Now we come to the comedy parts of David Beckham played by Jason Munn, and Prince William played by Mitch Ralley. Jason must have studied David Beckham as he had his accent and mannerism off to a fine art, and his comedy timing was very good. A solid performance. Then came Prince William, who came across as a bit of a joke character but was portrayed so well by Mitch, you could tell a lot of hard work had been put into this role as it was executed so well.
Jason Munn who directed this play got everything out of the characters on stage and this was well appreciated by the audience as I have never seen so many people laughing all the way through the show. A fantastic play which was well directed.
Once again sound and Tech by Andrew Carswell was very good.
I must say I really enjoyed this play, you all played your parts so well and you all really deserved your applause by a very loud audience.
