The Technical Rehearsal

Denise Hodgkiss made good use of her previous knowledge of the backstage workings in her direction of The Tech Rehearsal, a behind the scenes look at the preparation and pitfalls of the Godalming Iconic Theatrical Society (GITS)’s pantomime. The very large talented cast brought the scenes to life making the most of the comedy in the script.  The Pantomime was Cinderella and the many ups and downs of last minute hitches that had to be corrected made for a very amusing show. The fallings out, complications, goings on behind the scenes, love affairs and the like not normally seen by the audience, highlighted by the different characters adding to the enjoyment.  Mary Gallacher (Patsy)  the ‘Director’ of the pantomime, gave a very creditable performance, tearing her hair out and storming out of the building having to be calmed down on several occasions, she was well supported by a large cast all performing the roles well. The audience loved it because they do not see the things that go can wrong before the opening of a show, it gave an insight into the troubles that sometimes affect The Tech Rehearsals backstage.
