This youth theatre group Has been going now ten years, and this show was a resumé of all the shows they have performed, with excerpts from them all. Some of the original cast were again in this show, and must have been about eight years old at the time. They first performed in 2005 in Stokesley School with “Oliver!”, a show they are again performing in July. From there they performed in Hutton Rudby Village Hall, Middlesbrough College , Osmotherly Village Hall, The Leven Theatre, East Harlsey Village Hall, and The Forum at Northallerton in 2009 and have returned there on several occasions now making it their home, probably because they can accommodate a larger audience.
This concert before a packed audience was an excellent way to celebrate the ten years. What great talent they have, with some members ten years and under, and it was great to see them in this show. There were many excellent performances, both singing and dancing, and the tap dancing in particular was excellent. With 40 members in the show it is impossible to mention them all, but some stood out and should be mentioned. Lauren Fawcett excelled in the “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Jekyll and Hyde” excerpts, along with Rachel Egan who also danced and performed also as Gertrude in “Seussical”. Also in that show, William Dell-Price gave a very convincing performance.
One of the highlights was the Dream Ballet from “Oklahoma!” when nearly all the songs from that show were danced. Another highlight was the ballerina, Evie K,err who gave us the Toy Ballet from “Scrooge”. Phoebe McArthur was another who featured in a few excerpts. They have a few families involved one of them being the Arnott family, Joseph, Isaac and Victoria, Annabella and Morgan Burgess, Olivia and William Dell-Price, Alex and Megan Gray, Luc and Hannah Van der Voet. Luc was outstanding in three excerpts from “A Man of No Importance”, “Oklahoma!” with Olivia Dell-Price, and in the finale of “Les Miserables”, the show that featured again when Megan Gray played Madame Thenardier and Jason Curia “Master of the House” Megan also sang “American Dream” from “Miss Saigon” and Morgan Burgess gave a powerful rendering of “Why God?”.
The one man who deserves all the praise is the founder of the group CBW, Dan Brookes, who has trained them all and made the company the success it is. Well done Dan, and we wish you all the best in the future.
