HATS -The Sound Of The Musicals - Cabaret.

Horwich Amateur Theatre Society for one night only put on The Sound Of The Musicals with informal setting - there was a buzz as you entered the room!

Taking us through the evening with ease and ad-libs were the very smart looking Rob Armstrong and Ryan Norse. Choreography was by Gemma Marr and Lorraine Sullivan and the Musical Director was George Baldwin.

We were taken on a journey of the Musicals old and new and a couple I did not know. With over 25 musical numbers it would be hard to mention everyone but suffice to say all were strong. I will pick out a few. Starting with Louise Gaffney who opened the show looking stunning with dancers with Cabaret. Louise also sang I’ll Be Here from Ordinary Days which was just stunning - you could hear a pin drop and there were a few people in the audience affected by the song. I had goose bumps. I don’t know this musical but would love to see it.

Victoria Armstrong’s performance of Moments In The Wood from Into The Woods was really good and lovely acting thrown in. Ian Hawyes finished part one with One Night Only from Dreamgirls with the Dancers and also sang in part two Petrified from Taboo great stage presence. Hannah W-J and Dancers opened up part two with All That Jazz from Chicago which got us in the mood for more.

Stephanie Kay gave us a very confident performance of Popular from Wicked as did Ryan Norse singing All About The Green from The Wedding Singer - well done!

Natalie Howarth took on There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease and made it her own with great empathy for the character.

As I said previously the cast were all strong, but I have to say along with Louise another stand out was Eadie Gosling - does this girl realise how good she is (definitely one to watch)!. Eadie sang Movie In My Mind from Miss Saigon and Breathe from In The Heights - wow! is all I can say. I was told at the end she is only young. I wait with bated breath to see what she does next.

The whole evening ended with Seasons of Love from Rent by the whole ensemble - a delight!

It was a very enjoyable, relaxed evening spent with my guest and we were so well looked after, it was a pleasure. Thank you for inviting me and making Angela and I so welcome.
