The Sound of Musicals: Showtime

There were many things to commend in this evening’s entertainment not least the showcasing of so much talent from such a wide age range of performers. The programme also covered a wide range of musicals spanning several decades.

I like these concerts where lots of members can show us their performance skills. It was good to see lots of children involved as they are tomorrow’s society members. The programme was well paced moving smoothly from one number to the next. It is impossible to name all the excellent performances as there were so many so congratulations to all of you.

The set was cleverly designed and lit providing two levels on which to perform and it was well used by soloists and chorus. The choreography was inventive and slickly executed by the cast.

There were plenty of opportunities for good harmony singing in some interesting musical arrangements well supported by the band. The whole production was enhanced by lighting and costumes.
