From the opening number to the final chorus of ‘Climb Every Mountain’ this was a real family show. The company looked like they were having fun staging this production. Gabby Thompson did a great job in taking on the role of Maria. Her voice was well suited to the role. Captain Von Trapp, played by David Mann, remained aloof. He never lost his characterization thought the show. The nuns sang in perfect harmony and were a credit to Musical Director Lauren Coles, as were the orchestra. Claire Vaughan as The Mother Abbess was a joy to listen to. There was not a dry eye in the house when she sang ‘Climb Every Mountain’. The children were well cast with Megan Best stealing the show as little Gretel. I particularly enjoyed the music festival at the end of the show when the Captain invited the audience to join in and sing ‘Edelweiss’, which I thought was a really nice gesture as most of the audience were just waiting to sing those well known songs. Director Sonya Williams set the company a high standard which I am pleased to say they reached. Well done all!
