A very good audience the night I came along, with a cast of approximately 55 young performers on stage. The production was good and moved along at a good pace. Maria the governess was beautifully played by Tiffany Charnley her singing was a joy to listen to and her delivery of lines and diction was just wonderful. Well done Tiffany.

Kane Carson was very convincing as the authoritarian Captain Von Trapp. Rolf, (Lewis Devitt), the post boy did well capturing the arrogance of the Hitler youth and Liesl played by Megan Doherty gave a very nice performance. These two young people worked well together and along with the well rehearsed children convinced me they were a real family. Catherine Andrews was well cast as the sympathetic Mother Abbess, and she sang really well ‘Climb Every Mountain’, I just wished that she had completed the number as a solo to the end, I thought bringing in the chorus towards the end of the number was a mistake. I am sure Catherine could have got those top notes.

Sammie Dent and Dylan Phelps did well in their roles as Elsa and Max, all the nuns worked very hard with some lovely singing. The rest of the cast did a great job, who can resist children on stage. The sets were good and the costumes attractive. The overall result was a very entertaining evening with the cast achieving a good level of performance along with good sound and lighting and an excellent orchestra. Thank you Walney Juniors.
