A memorable opening to this well loved musical, in the cloisters of the abbey with nuns moving freely in and out was enchanting. This is a show that doesn’t always sit easy on stage due to the film of long standing, that said it was well received by the audience, there were strong performances by the three main sisters supporting the Mother Abbess, sisters Berthe, Sophia, and Margaretta, Kallini Kent, Alison Brander and Georgie Bootland respectfully. This is a personal feeling but the ages of Captain von Trapp and Maria didn’t sit easy with me and I felt a younger Maria would have been more suitable, the parts were played well and with feeling. Mother Abbess (Tina Lynn Spiers) was outstanding in this role with a monumental singing voice an excellent performance. Elsa Schraeder (Bonnie Lazzarini) gave a good strong rendition of this role. The youngsters Rolf (Rory Graydon) and Liesl (Sasha Carrillo De Albornoz) both agredited themselves in these roles with lovely voices. I attended on the night of team Bread and thought they all looked great and came across as really enjoying their parts and well drilled with all the movements. The nuns from the abbey sang really well and the harmony lines were solid especially the alto lines well done. On the whole a well received show by an appreciative audience.

Many thanks for your hospitality during my visit
