~~This was Trinity’s 40th Musical Production and what a production to celebrate with. Jennifer Mears as Maria and Bob Atkins as Captain Von Trapp lead a wonderful and talented cast. Lynette Coffey as the Baroness and Peter Cooley as Max gave some lighthearted interludes to the production. Ann Dempsey and Michael Grant as Frau Schmidt and Franz also performed well. The outstanding performance, for me, came from Marie Lock as the Mother Abbess. When she gave her rendition of ‘Climb Every Mountain’ there was not a dry eye in the house. The same happened when Bob Atkins led the family in ‘Edelweiss’. Musical Director and show director, Tim Harding must be congratulated on the chorus singing, especially the nuns. I don’t know how you did it. The children were a joy to watch, under the direction of choreographer and youth director, Leigh-Ann James. The set was simple and worked well with the colourful costumes. It was a joy to see the Town Hall so full. It was also a pleasure to not only hear the cast singing but the audience as well; you joined in with every well-known song. The standing ovation the company received at the end if the show was well deserved. Well-done Trinity. Another hit.
