This was a great pleasure tonight. Not only to watch an expertly directed and acted comedy of errors but also to watch friends on the stage at the Dibble Tree. The smile never left my face except when I was shocked by the very dramatic special effects.

I am familiar with the Cambusdonald plays and tonight was a masterclass of how to perform them. Brother Barnabus (Alan Christison) stole the show from his first line. Timing, accent and projection spot on. Brother Donatus was an excellent second for Barnabus and was played with empathy and style by Grant Roach. The trio of naughty monks was completed by Brother Simon (Aiden Gregory) who performed the part with a maturity greater than his years. Great work Lads!

The casting of the other roles in this production was also of a high standard. All the characters were believable and fresh, showing an understanding of comic timing and bringing class to the stage. David Cheape a bewildered Abbot, Sam Ruddle a commanding Inspector General, Karen Fleming a cheeky Helen of Troy, Carly Geddes a fiesty Jeannie, Brianna Syewart a sultry Salome, Jo Fitzgerald a commanding Lady Michie and her warrior like husband Sir Andra played by Grant Wilson.

Lighting, costumes, makeup, set and sound all professional and well planned. Special mention to the special effects and the props. I was impressed by the number of jars of special ingredients and how they completed the set so well and the skeleton was a nice touch.

This production shone for me as an example of a team well led with all the pieces of the jigsaw fitting together perfectly. Congratulations to the director (Dick Gibson) and the producer (Dave Ross). Overall an enjoyable evening with obvious talent on and off stage. Well done Carnoustie Theatre Club on another excellent production.
