In the village of Ploverleigh everyone is there to celebrate the betrothal of Alexis (Mark Ellse) and Aline (Janet James).  And so the tale begins.  The two leads were will supported by Mike Harding as the Vicar and Phil Howard as Marmaduke Pointdextre.  Robert Mead shone as John Wellington Wells (The Sorcerer) and his costume stood him out like a beacon.  As always with The Savoyards the chorus work was outstanding and the costumes colourful.  The set was simple but effective and the orchestra, under the direction of Martin Fautley sounded superb. It is always a delight to see one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s lesser-known shows especially when presented by such a talented company.
