Love it or hate it a good seasonal pantomime can be enjoyed by everyone young or old, on this occasion the cast were entertaining a full theatre! There was even a babe in arms in front and to the side of me, very well behaved they were too.

As far as I understand The Snow Queen was the first panto to be undertaken by the company. It was evident to all that much thought, organising and planning had been undertaken by the large production team and no less then six choreographers.

We saw ‘narrator’ Hans Christian Anderson sitting at a desk telling the story whilst the large cast performed their reimagined versions of classic pop, rock and musical theatre songs with a little added Snow Queen Magic.

Without mentioning all 30 cast members individually as listed in the comprehensive program it would be unfair for me to single out anyone in particular as each person had an important part to play from Dame Granny Fanny Annie to Caw (The Raven). Complete with some colourful costumes, lots of funny gags and great choice of musical numbers it was sure to be a hit.

With such a varied selection of musical numbers I couldn’t finish my thoughts without mentioning  ‘Mr Blue Sky’, ‘I put a spell on you’, ‘Let the sunshine in’, ‘True Colours’ and I was pleased to hear a version of one of my favourites ‘Seasons in Love’ also included.

The costumes were great throughout, that said, my granddaughters were surprised that the dame had a full beard rather than traditional drag queen makeup.

The cast clearly enjoyed themselves on stage, creating an atmosphere that spread to the audience, who responded enthusiastically and at all the right moments, Oh yes they did!
