It’s always nice to see new work written by a members of the company. Sheph Healy has done just that for St Paul’s Drama Group. Was it a play, a musical or a pantomime? Whatever it was, it was a nice concept written by Steph and she also directed assisted by Jon Selmes very nicely indeed.

Based in the local amateur dramatic society. We had the pleasure of going inside the ups and downs it takes to put on a performance. We were treated to simple but effective choreography by Irene Gardener, and music and sound by Chas Alder and Noel Dollimore, two men that know their craft. Director Steph got her cast right with lots of character parts  for young and old. All of you gave your all, too many of you to mention singly but there were some stand out performances. We were treated to bad dress rehearsals, first night, dressing rooms, and even the committee had their say as they all do!!! Costumes were colourful, a minimal set and props - that’s all you needed. This all went smoothly in the hands of stage managers Andy Soper and Chris Selmes.

I do have one gripe: some performers I heard and some not at all. Remember you have an audience out there that needs to know what you are saying, more projection needed in many cases, conviction of what you are saying but make yourself heard.

All in all a well written and entertaining evening was had by me and your audience.
