It was definitely a case of ‘hats off’ to all those involved in this highly innovative production. Anne Fensom’s detailed and sensitive direction resulted in a really stunning performance. The inventive set arrangement on the small stage space of the Langtoft village hall, together with the cleverly designed lighting plan, enabled a cracking pace to be maintained which meant the frequently changing topics covered by the various diary entries were presented very effectively. The large cast was drawn from a wide age range with competent performances delivered by Damon Fielding (as Adrian Mole), Gaynor Hannen (as Pauline Mole), Brian Branch (as George Mole), Andrew Clingo (as Mr Lucas), Sandie Burns (as Mrs Lucas),Kerry Pirie (as Grandma), Joshua Hannen (as both Nigel and Barry Kent) and Alice Birchenall (as Pandora). Other cast members performed well in their supporting roles. The renditions of the songs contained in this show were most impressive, with the vocalists performing their songs with much feeling. There was also a superbly choreographed fight scene, full of passion and anger, that had the audience on the edge of their seats. This was very much a departure from the usual offerings from this company which was well received and very much appreciated by the capacity audience. Congratulations on facing the challenge and daring to be different. .
