Ribchester Amateur Theatrical Society decided to produce their Promenade piece as part of RIBFEST 2016.

The company were continuing the series of their walk around theatrical productions and judging by the support they have received this has become a very popular event.

This piece was written by the talented, local young writer William Thomas and his inspiration was the classic “ Watership Down” by Richard Adams.

The performance was Directed and Produced by Viki Mason and Charlotte Green and we were fascinated, charmed and intrigued by the originality of the script and the commitment and enthusiasm of the cast who were all completely immersed in their roles. The locations for the story were perfect, moving from the riverbank, through the village and finally to the Rectory Gardens. The Narrator, Anne Rogerson moved the action along and the audience, ranging from 3 year olds to mature adults were mesmerized and moved by the sensitive script. We felt part of the action and we responded verbally to the performance. Diction and projection from every single performer, children and adults, was excellent and we were carried along, becoming emotionally involved with the delightful characters.  Interesting, appropriate sound effects were provided by some modern electronics carried by The Director. Makeup, and costumes had been lovingly prepared and were just what was required by this enchanting production. The audience took great delight in joining the actors in singing “Bright Eyes” bringing a fascinating piece to its finale. This was a very enjoyable visit to a very accomplished company. I look forward to my next visit to this beautiful village.
