The Producers

Curtain Call Productions once again raised the bar and camped it up with a fabulous production of The Producers. Director Gail Montague achieved precision in pace and attention to detail. I’m sure it must have been a very satisfying experience with such a talented cast. James Lawton as Max Bialistock delivered on all counts with impeccable comic timing and had a fantastic on stage relationship with Leo Bloom, played by ultra talented Joel Montague. Joel captured the nervous disposition and the panic attacks brilliantly. The Blue Blanket scene was such a hoot!

The lovely Debbie Cornock was one of the best Ulla’s I’ve seen giving a flawless performance as the sassy and sexy counterpart to Max’s, lets say, more mature girlfriends. All three leading characters were at the top of their game and indeed gave the rest of the cast a standard to follow – and they did just that!

Mike Bradley is no stranger to the stage and gave a hilarious performance as Franz Liebkind. Der Guten Tag Hop-Clop was a definite highlight for me.

Roger DeBris is such a hard character to get right but Jonathan Ferneyhough delivered the goods with confidence and brilliant characteristics. His better half, Carmen Ghia played by Simon Dean was another addition to the strong line of principals.

Musical Director Malcolm Forbes-Peckham brought his expertise and artistic influence to the musical side as the interpretation from the characters were just right along with an orchestra that sounded just great.

The choreography, as always by Joel was so fresh and energetic, delivered with so much pace and precision. It was obvious how hard the company had worked to achieve such a high standard. I have come to expect nothing less than brilliant from such a talented and experienced production team who always bring a fresh approach to every project. My friends are lining up to be my ‘plus one’ at your productions!
