This society always have nice sets and this production was no exception with good use of entrances and exits using the back of the hall to enter for a couple of scenes. . This G & S production had lovely costumes, props and the lighting and staging worked to compliment the production.

As usual this society used a pianist as accompaniment and this year Anthony Hunt fitted those shoes really well.  Pat Jacques had clearly worked hard with the cast as the harmonies sounded lovely. The experience of this society and their clear love of G & S is always a pleasure to see and hear.

The Major General was played by Mike Kennedy who portrayed the conniving father expertly with great diction and wonderful tone of voice. His subtle comic touches complimented this role to great effect.

Duncan Routledge was a very funny Sergeant of Police and Peter Walker was a commanding Pirate King with a great vocal.

Lawrence Shoebridge played a pleasant Frederic with some nice comic touches and Andrea Marshall played a feisty Ruth with lovely vocals.

Mabel was beautifully played and sung by Janet Marshall with a good chemistry between her and Lawrence playing Frederic.

The supporting cast all worked hard to make this a lovely production which the audience thoroughly enjoyed. My guest and I had a lovely evening being thoroughly entertained by this lovely society.
