This is a recently new show which tells the tale of a new Gilbert and Sullivan Society, “Dudley Gilbert & Sullivan Society’ embarking on their first production; “The Mikado” and Walsall G&S Society performed the show well.

It would be difficult to mention all 15 Principal Characters here but they were all effective and solid in their roles.

Louise Sawalha as “Rose Florian” was in fine form with her beautiful Soprano voice, supported well by John Ramsey as “Robin Rackshaw”

Other fine Performances came from the Company Stalwarts Elaine Macfarlane as “Hannah Willis” the Company’s Director, Mac Hammond as “Murgatroyd Cox” and Ben Powell as “Edwin Cholmondeley”

There were a few technical issues especially in the first half with the radio microphones making it difficult to hear the dialogue over the 15 piece orchestra.

This was made even more difficult due to the gap between the audience seating and the stage area as the orchestra pit was sandwiched between it. I also felt that this made it a little less intimate for the audience.

That said, the 15 piece orchestra performed well under the capable direction of Philippa Cruxton and on the whole it was a very entertaining evening.
