In this day and age it is unusual for a show to have quite a large chorus so it made a nice change to see more people on stage, children as well as adults. This musical first produced in the fifties has retained its popularity and there were some rousing performances in this production. Marian Paroo was played by Lucy Newth - a lovely performance and voice to match with Gill Garrat as Mrs Paroo, playing the part with great understanding. Winthrop Paroo completed the family and Joe Hyland was ideal for the role - his part in "Gary Indiana" was a delight, as was Lulu Freeman in "Goodnight my Someone" as Amaryllis. It's so good to see youngsters performing to this standard - I'm sure there is a future for musical theatre. All the other parts were very well cast and performed and the Barber Shop Quarter (the J-Tones) was much appreciated. Barber Shop at its very best. The Choreography was ideal for such a large number on stage and the movement enhanced the lovely costumes provided by the Wardrobe Team. Colin Reynolds is to be congratulated for the set construction (the library scene was superb) as are all those who helped in any way backstasge. Director Kath Reynolds and her team certainly created another enjoyable show for their audiences.
