On arriving at the venue, we were greeted at the door and taken to our table at Maxim’s in Paris.  This was a great idea and got you in the mood for this performance.  With menus on the table offering food and drink.  A great atmosphere.

At the start of this ‘operetta’ we are in Maxim’s and the staff decide that they could put on a performance of ‘The Merry Widow’ as good as any touring company, and so the show begins.

This society benefits with some great singers.  Playing Hanna Glavari (The Merry Widow) was Miriam Ridgway whose singing was outstanding.  Her rendition of ‘Vilja’ was the highlight of the production.   Playing Count Danilo was Ethan Cruxton, again a fine voice.  Their rendition of ‘The Merry Widow Waltz’ was enjoyed by the whole audience.   They were well supported by a very talented company with some wonderful harmonies, and they even managed to do some great dancing in this limited space.

Costumes looked good and were right for this type of production Phillippa Cruxton did a great job as Musical Director and the balance of the sound was just right.

Congratulations to you all, thank you for the invite and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
