The Magic Of Christmas

Whenever Bourneville hosts a fundraising concert, their supporters always turn out in force, not just for the mega raffle, but more so to enjoy the impressive array of twenty-seven Christmas/Wintery themed musical performances on this particular occasion.

I attended with my daughter at her request, who commented on how seamlessly the evening progressed. We also noted that use of a few simple props or small additions to the cast’s striking black sparkle outfits enhanced the performances. With no less than six Choreographers ensuring everyone had their own chance to shine, the thoughtful choreography elevated the concert to an entirely different level. I also liked seeing MD Chris as the trio was positioned on stage rather than hidden away from sight.

 We counted 32 cast members listed on the programme, and each had their own part to play. The large ensemble numbers included fantastic harmonies throughout, the soloists carefully chosen to showcase their strengths in the many different genres of musical number.

With so many magical songs I found it challenging to choose which were my favourites, however, Paul Stait’s absolutely amazing version of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ justifiably bought the house down. We loved Randy Johnson singing ‘Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire’ and the superb ‘Seasons of Love’ with Rachel Fox, Stuart Mc Diarmid, Viv Morrison & Company. Sophie Bourke, Sibs Ganley & Company also sang the wonderful ‘What is the Feeling?’ Lily Moore was ‘Waiting on a Wish’, Not forgetting ‘Pure Imagination’ by Phil Snowe & company and the harmonious melodic ‘Hallelujah’ performed by Lisa Colvin-Grieve, Dan Guzman, Tay Noronha-Hall, Phil Snowe & Peter Holmes.

Apologies for not listing all the individual names on the programme but rest assured absolutely everyone gave superb performances throughout. Congratulations on another fantastic concert and I sincerely hope it raised lots of money for your chosen charity.
