This 1895 play by Oscar Wilde, hailed as a masterpiece, has become  one of the classic comedies of all times. It was a bold move by St Ambrose Players to take on this piece and they should be very proud of the result. The whole production team and cast have obviously worked together to produce a beautifully evocative experience for the audience.

The imaginative and inventive set designed by John Hutchinson was, yet again, outstanding and together with well  researched props certainly deserved the applause for each of the ensuing scenes. The set would have graced any professional stage.  Backstage crew ensured smooth continuity and lighting and sound were instrumental in enhancing this excellent production. The wardrobe department under the auspices of Kath Creer and Jean Lee,  is to be congratulated on providing costumes which portrayed the relevant era.

Siobhan Edge as Lady Bracknell, brought a freshness to the role making it her own with precise comic timing with both dialogue and facial expressions. An outstanding performance.
Newcomers Daniel Barron as Algernon and Ian Spencer as Jack gave splendid mature performances with excellent diction and projection.  Mikey Coleman was first-rate in his sensitive portrayal of Merriman The Butler. These young  men  will certainly be a great asset to this company.

Tom Lane, Director has ensured that this very talented group of actors understood all that was required from each character and has succeeded in producing an evening to remember. Congratulations on an outstanding evening of “ Theatre”.
