I always enjoy seeing "The Importance of Being Earnest" and this production was no exception. The play opened in Algernon Moncrieff's flat - Algy being brilliantly portrayed by Richard LLewellyn with David Mander as the stuffy Jack Worthing. Superb characterisations by these two exceptional actors. Then along comes Lady Bracknell superbly played by June Johnson looking every inch of a lady of that period. Moving to Act 2 we met Miss Prism - a part simply made for Judith Warren - together with Hannah Johnson as Gwendoline and Michaela Clement-Hayes as Cecily, both of these actors excelling in their individual roles. Miss Prism's love interest then appeared - Canon Chasuble, an excellent performance by Tim Allebone, looking and sounding exactly as one would expect of a rural vicar! The scenes between Miss Prism and Canon Chasuble were a joy to behold! The two men servants , in their cameo roles, were both extremely good with raised eyebows and a variety of visual expressions - Lane being played by Mick Mills and Merriman by Shaun Johnson. The costumes were superb and the set quite incredible given the small acting area and the way in which the scenes were changed from a flat in London to a Country Manor House.
Congratulations to everyone involved both on and off stage. A production that Director, Teresa Webb, must be very proud of and rightly so. Well done to you all.
