To be walking into a theatre full of atmosphere created by a visual spectacle set, was enough to know that this was going to be an outstanding and professional production.
Then it hit the stage and the intensity began with Olim from the superb Congregation and Choir with all these incredible actors and choir members working seamlessly together. There is no doubt that the audience were surprised and spell bound.
AAODS can be justifiably very proud of what was going to be achieved that night and every night. Patrick Callaghan as Frollo the deeply flawed Archdeacon was outstanding, his every word full of intense emotion. and Jehan his Son played very well by Jack Bodily and as they sang the moving
‘The Bells of Notra Dame’ setting the scene. Luke Williams goes from strength to strength, his acting ability knows no bounds as he became the tragic Quasimodo. Falesha Lewis as Esmarelda lit up the stage with her vivacity, dancing, singing, acting and her golden voice singing the moving God Help The Outcasts. Alex Brown as Phoebus gave a fine performance, Joe Pugh as Saint Aphrodisius showed us his faultless diction and honest acting ability. Merren Edwards as Clopin became this character and was expressive in every scene.
Two months before the production an AAODS member called in to a rehearsal for an hour, only to be over taken by what was being prepared and stayed to the end of the rehearsal! This production was so much more than envisaged, it took AAODS to the heights unknown for some time and ultimate great success.
Tom Mogford their dedicated and creative Director had great vision to create this work, and also outstanding Musical Director Sarah Fowler and Choreography by Alys Le Moignan-Williams gave their inspiration and expertise to this memorable production.
Thank you for your hospitality. Congratulations every one of you.
