This version, adapted by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, was originally presented by the Peepolykus company and included slapstick, visual surprises, absurd scenarios and ridiculous comic performances  and written for a cast of 3 who play numerous roles.  The cast of 3, Chris Binns, Garry Darbey and Antony Poveda, had a ball -  and so did we the audience. The acting of all 3 was of a very high calibre with great comic timing, very good comic performances, great teamwork and concentration when doing ridiculous and absurd actions. The set was fairly simple and moved on and off to suggest various locations. The sound effects, particularly of the hound, added to the general atmosphere and the changing of costumes was handled with flair and humour. The audience hardly knew what to expect even though the story was faithfully portrayed. A very novel theatrical experience.
