Three very talented actors were chosen to present this amazingly funny spoof version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s well known tale adapted by Peepolykus (Steve Canny & John Nicholson). Paul Gibson’s decision to have a female, Jo Carling, play Sherlock Holmes and various other characters alongside Jon Molson as Dr Watson and Danny Chester-Bush as Sir Henry worked extremely well. The trio gave their all in delivering the huge amount of physical and verbal humour contained in the demanding script and the support of a very efficient stage crew ensured that a cracking pace was maintained. Conan Doyle’s style of writing allowed for the frequent and speedy transition between horror and hilarity and from fear to fun. Good lighting and sound effects were used to help convey the story line and the action took place on a well designed and constructed set. This was brilliant entertainment that undoubtedly merited the enthusiastic reception it received.
