This show was presented by 9 junior members of the group aged 6-11 years, each playing a character role and involved in one or more of 8 musical numbers with piano accompaniment.  Although played on a bare stage the scenes were supplemented by some projected  ‘silent movie’ type slides which created the settings along with some suitable props and very nice costumes.

The story surrounds a travelling showman, a professor of inventions, a megalomaniac, a pair of quack doctors hawking phoney medicines and generally up to no good, and a number of other characters along the way.

Naturally those with a little more experience stood out including Pippa Bond as Mr Branston Pickle the travelling showman, Evie Bakewell as Petunia his wife, Lexi Ford as Obadiah who sang with some style, Rosie Robson (Sneer) and Neve Raven (Snide) and Lily Jepson- Haines (Flossie Dentures) who was humorous with a sweet tuneful voice.

But without exception, the others; Eva Richards (Lily Pickle), Amelia Drummond (Professor Pickle) and Emily Nelson (Lady D’Enture – a brief role but played with character) made a great contribution and the end result, remembering the general age range of the cast, was very worthy indeed, which all bodes well for the future of the group. A performance that put an admiring smile on my and the rest of the audience faces.
