The Gin Game, written by D.L.Coburn in 1977 shows us two elderly nursing home residents in a Mid-West America area who are playing Gin. I say playing as the gentlemen in the piece, Weller Martin, is teaching Fonsia Dorsey to play. The only thing is that she keeps winning.

Weller Martin was played by Colin Townsend who gave a fine performance, who once had a family he cared for but they no longer come and see him. Fonsia Dorsey was played by Hazel Evans who spins a web of lies about her financial affairs and tells Weller that her son lives in another city, but he really lives in the same city as the nursing home, but again, he never comes to see her.

A two handed pay is always complex and this one was not exception with the two actors having great chunks of words to learn. Hazel did have her script with her on stage but this was hardly noticable as she did a good job of covering it up with her handbag. The two actors worked well together.

The Sutton Arts set buidling team did a good job in designing the porch of The Bentey Nursing Home.

Barrie Atchison did a good job with the direction.
